Ahead of the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) 2022-23 Melbourne Renegades have signed off-spinner Corey Rocchiccioli on a one-year deal. The 25-year-old was part of the Perth Scorchers in the 2021 edition, coming in as an local replacement player.

Rocchiccioli added more spinning prowess to the Renegades, who last week signed Victoria's Ruwantha Kellapotha and have Afghanistan's Mujeeb Ur Rahman and West Indies' Akeal Hosein in their squad already.

Rocchiccioli made his First-Class debut for Western Australia last year and has since featured in 5 Sheffield Shield games, scoring 51 runs and claiming nine wickets.

Speaking about his new BBL contract, Rocchiccioli in his statement sounded extremely pleased and looked forward to enhancing his skills further.

“I’m really excited. When the opportunity presented to come to the Renegades, I jumped at it. It’s going to be an awesome experience.

I want to keep growing my game and seeing where I can get to. I feel like I’m ready to come in and perform a role for the Renegades – whatever ‘Sakes’ asks me to do, I’ll be happy to do.”

James Rosengarten welcomes youngster to the squad

"We planned to bolster our spin stocks through the overseas draft and Corey now adds to that group. We look forward to seeing what he can to our bowling group this summer.”

There are still two spots for local players remaining on their roster. The Renegades kickoff their BBL 12 tourney by taking on the Brisbane Heat on December 15.
