Australia's premier fast bowler Mitchell Starc is optimistic about his chances of taking part in Australia's tour of India scheduled to take place next year in February.

Starc injured his finger on the first day of the recently concluded Boxing Day Test between Australia and South Africa played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). He caught up on the injury while attempting a catch. Despite the injury concerns, Starc still came to bowl for his side in the second innings.

Unfortunately for Starc, the injury occurred on the most important of his ten fingers, the middle digit on his bowling hand. He will be in a race against time to prove his fitness for the four-Test series in India.

Injured Starc on upcoming India tour:

Obviously I want to come back as soon as possible with the India tour coming up".

Cameron Green too injured his finger as he suffered a fracture in the match and now he's all set to miss the last Test against South Africa in Sydney.

Ashton Agar and Matthew Renshaw have been added to the squad for the Sydney Test as replacement players for Starc and Green.

The left-arm seamer is the only pace bowler who has played all four Tests this summer (2 vs WI & 2 vs SA), and the team management wouldn’t risk further injury ahead of a gruelling tour of India.
