Indian women's team fast bowler Shikha Pandey shared a heartwarming post after earning a recall in India's squad for the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup in South Africa.

After a gap of more than 17 months, Shikha has been called for the tri-series involving West Indies and South Africa, and the next year's T20 World Cup in South Africa.

The right-arm seamer made her last appearance in blue during India’s tour of Australia last October and since then she has been on the sidelines ever since, despite being one of the top performers with the ball for India.

She has earned a recall on the back of consistent performances in the domestic circuit. India’s lack of options in the pace department has also helped her cause.

Shikha, who is India’s second most successful pacer in T20Is with 40 wickets, has been drafted as a replacement of pacer Meghna Singh in the squad.

"I had put this small poster up on my bedroom wall in February as an affirmation. My heart is filled with gratitude for everyone who stood by me this gone year and I am truly humbled by all your wishes. Hard work continues. #Blessed,"  tweeted Shikha Pandey.

India will kick start their World Cup campaign on February 12 against the arch-rivals Pakistan in Cape Town. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian team is part of Group 2, placed with England, West Indies, Pakistan, and Ireland.
