Continuing his sublime form, swashbuckling South African batter Heinrich Klaasen showcased his incredible hitting skills once again in the IPL 2023, smashing a counterattacking half-century against Royal Challengers Bangalore. With this flamboyant knock, the ace Proteas batter proved his worth for Sunrisers Hyderabad for the umpteenth time in the tournament.

After being put into bat, SRH got off to a slow start, as the RCB bowlers kept Rahul Tripathi and Abhishek Sharma quiet in the initial overs. To make matters worse for the hosts, ace Kiwi spinner Michael Bracewell dismissed both SRH openers to put RCB in the driving seat.

However, things started taking a U-turn as soon as Klaasen joined skipper Aiden Markram in the middle.

While Markram struggled to get going, Klaasen seemed to be batting on a different surface as he took all RCB bowlers to the cleaners on his way through to a belligerent half-century.

His fifty, which came in just 24 deliveries, steadied the ship for Sunrisers Hyderabad, setting the tone for a respectable total.

After Markram’s departure for a scratchy 20-ball 18, the Proteas keeper-batter is guiding Hyderabad towards a challenging total alongside English sensation Harry Brook.

As of writing, the hosts are 123 for three in 14.3 overs, with Klaasen and Brook batting on 63* and 14*, respectively.
