In what was an enriching and enthralling Indian Premier League (IPL) season, the final on Tuesday provided the fans with moments of joy, anguish, and sadness. On one spectrum we had Ravindra Jadeja, who starred for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and on the other, there was Mohit Sharma, who almost managed to pull off the unthinkable for Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in a rain-curtained encounter.

Needing 13 off the final over, Sharma bowled four consecutive yorkers much to the jubilation of the Titans; however, Jadeja had other plans, slamming a six and a four on the final two balls, to clinch the IPL title for CSK from under GT's eyes.

Speaking to Indian Express, Sharma explained that he had clear plans for his bowling in the final over against CSK, and went on to explain his mindset.

Here's what Sharma said

"My mind was very clear in what I wanted to do. In the nets, I had practiced such situations and I have been in such scenarios before too. So I said let me bowl all balls yorkers and was backing my instinct."

"I ran and tried to bowl (yorker) again. I just wanted to be focussed and back myself. Whole IPL I have done that. The ball landed where it shouldn’t have and Jadeja got his bat. I tried, I tried my best."

The 34-year-old did admit that he found it difficult to sleep post-match, but maintained that he is trying to move on.

"I couldn’t sleep. Sochta raha kya alag karta joh match jeet jaate (What if I could have bowled this ball or that ball?) It’s not a nice feeling now. Somewhere something is missing but I’m trying to move on."

This season has been a revelation for Sharma, who finished with 27 wickets at an average of 13.37.
