Shimron Hetmyer Joins an Elite List, Achieves 'This' Milestone in IPL

In a remarkable turn of events, Shimron Hetmyer has completed 1000 runs in the Indian Premier League. The swashbuckling batter from West Indies achieved this phenomenal landmark during Rajasthan Royals' latest group-stage encounter against Gujarat Titans on Sunday night. 

Coming at number six, Hetmyer stitched a match-winning 59-run stand with skipper Sanju Samson. After Samson's departure, he exhibited nerves of steel and batted alongside Dhruv Jurel and Ravichandran Ashwin to secure a clinical victory for the inaugural champions in the last over.

After grabbing eyeballs through some splendid performances for West Indies, Hetmyer was picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore, representing them with modest success in the 2019 season. Overall, he played five matches, scoring a mere 90 runs, including a solitary notable 75-run knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad

After being released by RCB, the dynamic southpaw donned Delhi Capitals' jersey in the lucrative tournament in the next two seasons. He performed much better for the Capitals, garnering 427 runs at an average of 28.47 and a blistering strike rate of 158.74. 

However, he fulfilled his true potential for his current franchise Rajasthan Royals after being bagged by them in the 2022 mega auction. The 26-year-old, who can hit huge sixes with the utmost nonchalance, has nailed the role of a finisher for the Royals, amassing 497 runs at a fabulous average of 55.22 and a magnificent strike rate of 164.03. 

Speaking of RR, the Sanju Samson-led outfit sit at the top of the points table with four victories in five outings. They will take on Lucknow Super Giants in the 26th match of the tournament on April 19.
