Shahid Afridi Hits Najam Sethi With a 'Below The Belt' Comment After IND-PAK Conundrum

The whole puzzle between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Asian Cricket Board (ACC) has taken an enormous curve as Pakistan former captain Shahid Afridi has taken a jib at the board's Chairperson Najam Sethi.

The drama began when PCB Chairperson Sethi tried intimidating India to visit them or agree with their hybrid model for the Asia Cup 2023.

With BCCI not agreeing with Pakistan's proposal due to the geopolitical situation, Sethi tried pressurising the Indian board by saying they won't travel to India for the upcoming ICC World Cup if their neighbours do not participate in the ACC event on their terms, but all went in vain. And now, a report has emerged that has stated the Pakistan team has made up its mind to travel to India to participate in the pinnacle ICC event.

Meanwhile, during the whole conundrum, the former Pakistan captain attacked Sethi with a 'below the belt' comment, saying a PCB chairperson could not be over the age of 70 years. He further stated that Sethi's stand should be firm when it comes to INDO-PAK scenarios.

"Najam Sethi Sahab should be aware of his responsibilities (as a PCB chairperson). He holds huge power. Thus, he shouldn't change his stance this regularly. He's planning the Asia Cup god knows what he's trying to do. Somewhere I heard they are thinking of hosting it in England," Afridi said.

"We someone reaches 60, 65, 70... um, I think a younger person should be our Chairperson. That person should be able to walk properly and be strong and firm with his stand. Age plays a huge part in it."

"Why is he saying that we won't go to India? He should be saying, 'Go to India, kids. We are with you. Go there and win the World Cup for us.'"

Despite playing a vital role in the revival of international cricket in the country, Sethi has been one of the most mocked persons in Pakistan since taking over the reins from Ramiz Raja.
