Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that Pakistan will travel to India for the 2023 ICC World Cup. This massive development has come at a time when PCB and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are at odds regarding the venue for the Asia Cup 2023. The Indian Cricket Board is hesitant to send India to Pakistan for the event.
Earlier, there were reports that the India versus Pakistan World Cup match is likely to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. But according to a few other reports, PCB does not want the India-Pakistan match to be played in Ahmedabad.
At the BCCI’s Special General Meeting (SGM), which will be held on May 27, the venues for the World Cup games are likely to be finalised. A decision on India traveling to Pakistan for the Asia Cup will also be taken.
The schedule for the World Cup is yet to be announced, but the tournament will tentatively start on October 5 and end on November 19. BCCI has reportedly zeroed in on 12 venues for the quadrennial event, with Ahmedabad likely to host the opening game and the final.
Currently, India and Pakistan play against each other in only multinational events. The last time they played a bilateral series was in 2012, while the last time they played each other in a Test match was in 2007.
