The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is gearing up for a Special General Meeting (SGM) scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad on May 27. The meeting will primarily focus on preparations for the highly anticipated 2023 ODI World Cup, set to be held in October-November.

As per a report by News18,  a core 'working group' has been established to oversee the marquee event, consisting of the BCCI president, secretary, treasurer, acting CEO, and other senior officials.

One of the key points on the agenda will be the allocation of funds for stadium infrastructure revamping, aimed at creating a more spectator-friendly environment for the World Cup. The working group will also finalize the venues and ensure the smooth conduct of the tournament on home soil.

Another crucial topic to be discussed at the meeting is the formation of a committee for the Women's Premier League (WPL). The committee's purpose will be to facilitate the development of the league and players, along with determining an appropriate window for its scheduling. Initially, there were considerations of holding the WPL during Diwali, but due to the overlapping timing with the ODI World Cup, an alternative window will likely be explored.

An anonymous franchise official expressed that scheduling conflicts arise as the Australian women's team will be engaged in international matches until the third week of February. Therefore, the WPL can only commence after that period. With the men's World Cup also taking place during Diwali, it necessitates finding a different timeframe for the women's league.

“This year, the Australian women’s team will be playing international matches till the third week of February and hence you can only start WPL after that. In case, you are looking at the Diwali window, then there is the Men’s World Cup," a franchisee official told PTI as reported by News18.

Additionally, the BCCI aims to sanction its Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PSH) policy at the SGM. This move comes after allegations were made against BCCI chief executive Rahul Johri, highlighting the need for a comprehensive policy in addressing such matters.

The implementation of a Sexual Harassment Policy has been in the works since then. Moreover, discussions will also be held regarding the appointment of physiotherapists and strength and conditioning coaches for the state teams.
