'Second Date Of Birth' | Why Is Rishabh Pant Accident Date Making A Buzz Online?
Pant has changed his birth date to 5/01/23 [Twitter]
Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant took to his official Instagram account on Wednesday to update his date of birth to 05 January 2023.
Pant's official date of birth is 4th October 1997. While he did not specify the reason behind it, the choice of date is a clear indication that he is alluding to the fatal accident that he suffered at the turn of the year 2023.
The champion cricketer suffered a near-fatal accident in December 2022, when his car crashed with a divider while he was traveling to his hometown Roorkee.
Pant suffered multiple physical injuries, and was soon airlifted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital for further treatment, under the supervision of the BCCI.
He eventually underwent a surgery on his ligaments on 5th January 2023.
Pant's accident eventually ruled him out of competitive cricket, including the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the IPL, World Test Championship final and he is most likely to miss out on the home World Cup later this year.
He has shown significant improvement since then. He recently posted a video of him walking without any external support. While he is currently rehabilitating at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore, the exact timeline of his return is yet to be ascertained.
