'Scott Boland Passed the Gabba Challenge'- Michael Kasprowicz

Former Australian pacer Michael Kasprowicz heaped praise on Scott Boland, stating he passed the Gabba Test with flying colours on the opening day of the first Test against South Africa

Kasprowicz further opined that Gabba is unarguably the toughest pitch for the fast bowlers as they often try too hard instead of keeping things simple, which Boland did on the first day.

Boland, who is playing his fifth Test, did the basics right and stuck to his plans, which reaped him rich rewards. He picked two crucial wickets in his 11-over spell in the first innings.

Here's what Kasprowicz said

"For a fast bowler, you can try too hard, instead of keeping it simple and getting it in the right area. Scott Boland has worked it out ideally. The length is all he looks at. He relies on hitting the seam and natural variation. He has been on song straight away,

"That's instead of hitting a great line and great length like Boland just outside off stump to force the batter to make an error."

Opting to bowl first, Australia bundled out South Africa for 152 runs in 48.2 overs. Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon bagged three wickets each, while Cummins and Bolland claimed two wickets apiece.
