Naveen Ul Haq to stay at Leicestershire for 2023 T20 Blast

Afghanistan pacer Naveen Ul Haq has extended his stay at Leicestershire for another one more year. 

Naveen will don the Foxes shirt in the 2023 T20 Blast as well.  He has been the finest pacer for the side in the last two editions of England's premier T20 tournament. 

The 23-year-old scalped 26 wickets in 14 games and emerged as the tournament's highest wicket-taker. He followed it up by securing 24 scalps in 14 appearances in the 2022 season, and ranked second in the bowling charts. He was also awarded the Foxes’ T20 Player of the Year in 2022. 


Moreover, he managed to pick three wickets in single appearance during the T20 World Cup 2022 fixture against Australia. On the virtue of his consistent performances in the shortest format, Naveen has found faith from the team management. 

Naveen Ul Haq Statement

 “I’m really looking forward to next season already. It’s been a great two years so far and Leicestershire now has a feeling of home for me.

"The way we played in the last five games (in 2022) showed the character, unity, and ability of our team, and that fills me with confidence heading into next year.”

The talented pacer recently took part in the Abu Dhabi T10 League. He is currently featuring for the Colombo Stars in the Lanka Premier League. So far, Naveen has picked up five wickets in four games of LPL.
