Scott Boland made instant impact for Australia, at least in Test cricket, on his debut during the ‘Boxing Day’ Ashes Test against England at the MCG back in December 2021. Aged 32 at the time, the right-arm fast bowler skittled out the visiting Englishmen for just 68 in their second innings by picking up astonishing figures of 6-7 in four overs.

Boland’s destructive spell earned him a ‘Player of the Match’ award, and made him an instant first-choice pick for the Australian selectors as an injury replacement for any of the primary front-line seamers.

Interestingly, not many fans are aware of Boland’s brief appearance in India’s prestigious T20 tournament, the Indian Premier League (IPL). Celebrating his meteoric rise in Test cricket for Australia, here we take a look at his track record and performance in IPL matches.

Scott Boland IPL Career and Stats

Scott Boland was roped in by the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) franchise in 2016, i.e., shortly after making his ODI and T20I debuts for Australia. Playing the IPL 2016 season under the leadership of MS Dhoni, Boland was picked in the RPS playing XI just twice throughout the tournament.

On his IPL debut against then defending champions Mumbai Indians at Pune’s MCA Stadium on May 1, 2016; the speedster sent down three overs to concede 23 runs in a losing cause for his team.

After going wicketless against Mumbai Indians, Scott Boland picked up his first IPL wicket in the form of Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) opener Sanju Samson in the very next game a couple of days later in Delhi. The speedster also dismissed Carlos Brathwaite in the innings to claim match-winning figures of 2-31 from four overs. Here is a look at Boland’s overall IPL stats to date:
