India and Australia are up against each other in the second Test of the five match series at the Adelaide Oval. Notably, this is a Day/Night Test match played with the pink ball. Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian team won the toss ahead of the game and opted to bat first.
The excitement of the match heightened on the first delivery of the game as Mitchell Starc bowled an absloute ripper to send Yashasvi Jaiswal back for a golden duck. As Jaiswal wlaked back to the hut, the tension in Indian camp could be sensed. The nightmare of the 36 all out from four years earlier might have come back to haunt the team.
However, Shubman Gill looked in a good touch and played some gorgeous shots to calm down the nerves of the team. At the other end, KL Rahul was struggling to get of the mark. Although he was defendin well and judging the lengths nicely, he was not able to get the first runs off his bat.
Scott Boland's Dramatic Return To Test Cricket Does Not Materialise
Scott Boland, who is making a return to Test matches after 17 months was handed over the ball in the eighth over of the innings. Boland started off with a dream delivery and it seemed like Australia are taking the momentum of the game back in their grip. It was a good length delivery at the off stump line that moved away slightly after pitching. Rahul was looking to defend the ball off the back foot but was beaten by the late movement away from him.
The Australian team started celebrating the wicket of the Indian opener. However, it soon turned out that Boland had overstepped while delivering the ball and it was a front foot no ball. Excitement turned to disappointment as Boland returned to his bowling mark.
KL Rahul Walks Back Even Without Edging The Ball
Notably, immediately after the appeal KL Rahul started to walk. But the replays showed that the batter had not actually nicked the ball. It was surprising for the viewers when the replays came up because Rahul had already accepted his fate and was walking back.
