India U19 kicked off the proceedings in style in the second semi-final of the ACC U19 Asia Cup 2024 against Sri Lanka U19 at Sharjah. Skipper Mohamed Amaan made a statement early with his brilliant sharp fielding and gave India the perfect start, leaving Sri Lanka stunned.
Amaan’s Magic Sends Perera Packing
It was the last ball of the third over, and Yudhajit Guha bowled a full-length delivery to Dulnith Sigera. Sigera pushed it towards mid-off and took off for a quick single without even looking at his partner, Pulindu Perera.
Pulindu hesitated but by the time he decided to run, Mohamed Amaan had already swooped in. The Indian skipper picked up the ball swiftly and calm as ever, he fired a bullet throw straight to wicketkeeper Harvansh Singh. The Indian stumper did the rest, whipping the bails off in a flash and Pulindu didn’t even have a chance.
India Keeps Sri Lanka Under The Pump
At the time of writing, India U19 is all over Sri Lanka like a rash. The Lankans are struggling at 145/6 in 39.2 overs, and things aren’t looking great for them. They’ll need a miracle to get a decent total on the board, but with India’s bowlers breathing fire, that tail might not wag for long.
It is worth mentioning that the winner of this match will take on the victorious team of the first semi-final between Pakistan U19 and Bangladesh U19 which is also currently underway at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
