Mumbai Indians created history on Sunday night when they beat the Delhi Capitals in a close encounter to clinch the first-ever Women's Premier League (WPL) trophy by seven wickets. MI outperformed their opponents in all departments, with contributions coming in from Issy Wong, Hayley Matthews, Natalie Sciver-Brunt, and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur.

Former England skipper Charlotte Edwards, the franchise's head coach, described Mumbai's win as one of the greatest moments of her career thus far.

Edwards is a celebrated batter, having scored 10,273 international runs for England across formats, apart from captaining her nation to the 2009 Women's World Cup victory.

Speaking to Jio Cinema, the 41-year-old praised Kaur for leading the team ably and ensuring everyone played in unison.

Under Kaur, MI lost just two matches in the group stage and won eight. They beat UP Warriorz in the Eliminator to book a place in the final.

Here's what Edwards said

"This is one of my greatest moments in cricket, have built amazing friendships right throughout the tournament. We gave them (players) an off yesterday. We had a team meeting and we kept it very relaxed. They (MI players) played for one another, it has been a wonderful experience. Harman’s been amazing as a captain, it’s been a wonderful experience."
