India's form in the One-Day Internationals (ODI) in 2022 has been worrying, as they have lost series against — South Africa, New Zealand, and Bangladesh. However, amidst all the gloominess, the knight in shining armour is Shreyas Iyer

Iyer continued his terrific form and scored a valiant 82 in the second ODI in Dhaka on Wednesday, where India lost by a margin of 5 runs and thus conceded the series 0-2.

In 16 ODIs in 2022, the right-handed batter has amassed 721 runs at an average of 60.08 with one hundred and six fifties. Speaking to cricbuzz, Indian keeper-batter Dinesh Karthik praised Iyer for his performances in the ODIs this year.

Karthik further stated that Iyer needs to finish games for India as Virat Kohli used to do consistently in his prime.

Here's what Karthik said

"One Day International cricket is something right up his alley, he likes the fact that he can take a few balls and then start launching. Terrific player of spin and the fact that these days every time he walks in, they test him with short balls and he is coming good, almost every game."

"He almost took India to a place where - I think it was safe but if you want to make your name as a player, you want to make a name like what Virat Kohli has done over the years, these are the games that you wanna be 120-130 not out, that is a big difference,”

The 28-year-old will be seen in action in the third and final ODI tomorrow at Chattogram.
