There has been a constant comparison between Shubman Gill and Prithvi Shaw since the world has seen their first glimpses on the highest level.

Both these promising batters helped India under19 clinch the 2018 World Cup in New Zealand and have been in the national reckoning ever since.

Meanwhile, former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull has claimed that he has always rated Gill higher than Shaw.

While commentating during the first ODI between New Zealand and India in Auckland, Doull recalled when he placed Gill higher than Shaw in terms of batting attributes.

Here's what Doull said

"During the 2018 under19 World Cup, I had stated that Shubman Gill is a far better player than Prithvi Shaw, which at that time was a big statement."

Meanwhile, Gill proved Doull's assessment correct, as he hammered an attractive 65-ball 50 before being dismissed by Lockie Ferguson in the 24th over.

The Punjab batter has enjoyed stellar success in ODI cricket this year, slamming 530 runs at a superb average of 75.71 and a strike rate of 107.51. Such impressive performances have locked Gill as the first-choice backup opener while Shaw continues to fight for a comeback.
