Mumbai Indians' recruit Jofra Archer visited Belgium for elbow surgery amidst the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season as per several reports. Archer missed as many as four IPL 2023 matches after making his debut against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 2.

According to The Independent, the England player underwent minor surgery on his troubled elbow, which kept him out of action for nearly two years. Archer returned to action last Saturday against Punjab Kings (PBKS) but missed Mumbai's latest encounter versus Gujarat Titans (GT) yesterday.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is constantly in touch with Archer and MI's medical staff, and monitoring the bowler's progress and workload.  Ahead of the IPL, Archer played in England's white-ball series against South Africa and Bangladesh, respectively, in hopes of proving his fitness and gearing up for the much-hyped The Ashes in June 2023.

The Barbados-born is unlikely to play County Cricket for Sussex as well.

In the two matches that Archer has featured in this season, he has taken plenty of battering with the ball, giving away 75 runs in four overs while claiming just one solitary wicket.

Archer might return to the XI on Sunday against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Wankhede.
