The T20 thrills is back to the cricket arena as Major League Cricket has returned with the third season. The excitement soared high as the cricket world witnessed a fierce clash between the San Francisco Unicorns and the Washington Freedoms.

As the match unfolded, some of the thrilling moments included the fierce battle between Sanjay Krishnamurthi and Rachin Ravindra, stole the spotlight.

Who Is Sanjay Krishnamurthi?

India has long been a hotbed for extraordinary cricket talent, and Sanjay Krishnamurthi’s rise is the latest proof. Born on June 02, 2003, in Corvallis, Oregon, Krishnamurthy’s career was shaped in Bengaluru. Following his passion for the game, he played Zonal cricket and represented Karnataka at the U-16 level.

But his career took a different path after his family moved to America. Following his dream in the USA, the batter joined San Jose University and continued playing cricket. As per India TV, his fate shifted when, as an OCI cardholder, he couldn't play state cricket in India. Giving up US citizenship was a long process, so he chose to represent the USA instead.

In 2021, he made his international debut for the USA against Nepal in the 50-over format. His T20I debut came earlier this year against Oman. In just a few matches, he showcased his excellence.

A Fierce Battle Against Rachin Ravindra

After making his debut in the Major League Cricket last season, Sanjay returned, donning San Francisco United in the ongoing season, and shattered the stage in the first game. As the 21-year-old batter was batting with Finn Allen, Rachin Ravindra came to bowl in the eighth over.

After two consecutive dots, Rachin slowed off the pace in the third delivery, but the batter smashed it over the long on. In the next delivery, Krishnamurthi smashed a 73-meter six. After smashing the fifth delivery into the stands, he completed the hat-trick of sixes.

But something more was about to come. In the sixth delivery, the ball was tossed up, and the batter swiped it towards the mid-wicket, and it ended up being a massive 93-meter six. Smashing 24 runs in an over, Krishnamurthi put the Kiwi all-rounder under pressure.

Krishnamurthi Speaks After The Blazing Cameo

While pushing towards the team to put on a challenging total, Krishnamurthi played a crucial knock of 36 runs off 20 balls, along with 1 boundary and 4 over-boundaries. In that innings, he batted with a whopping strike rate of 180.00. After the explosive cameo, he shared his thoughts on the memorable knock.

“My roots are Indian, my cricket was shaped in Bengaluru, and now I’m living my dream in America,” he said.

In the opening match of the MLC 2025, the San Francisco Unicorns put on a batting show while batting first. Depending on Finn Allen’s explosive knock of 151 runs in just 51 deliveries, they put on a massive total of 269 runs on the board. Their bowlers backed it up, bundling out the opposition for 146 to seal a thumping 123-run win.
