New Zealand batter Finn Allen delivered a performance for the ages in the opening match of Major League Cricket 2025. Playing for the San Francisco Unicorns, Allen hammered an explosive 151 runs off just 51 balls against Washington Freedom in Oakland on Friday, June 13.

Allen's incredible innings wasn’t just powerful, it was historic. He broke several individual and team records, rewriting the record books in T20 cricket. Here's the list of the records that the Kiwi star broke:

Most Sixes in a T20 Innings: 19 Sixes

Finn Allen set a new world record for the most sixes hit in a single T20 innings, smashing a total of 19 sixes during his knock. This broke the long-standing record held by the legendary Chris Gayle, who had hit 18 sixes during his unbeaten 146 in the Bangladesh Premier League. Allen’s six-hitting spree was so dominant that he hit more than triple the number of boundaries, which were only five.

Fastest 150 in T20 Cricket: 49 Balls

The 26-year-old opener brought up his 150 in just 49 balls, making it the fastest 150 in T20 cricket history. This record was previously held by South African batter Dewald Brevis, who had taken 52 balls to score 150 during a domestic T20 match in SA in 2022.

Fastest Century in MLC: 34 Balls

Allen’s explosive innings was a clear reminder of how dangerous he can be once he finds his rhythm. His knock not only lit up the MLC stage but also became a proud milestone for New Zealand cricket. One of the major records he shattered was reaching his century in just 34 balls; the fastest hundred in MLC history. He broke the previous record held by Nicholas Pooran, who had reached his hundred in 40 balls during the 2023 MLC final.

Second-Fastest Century in T20 Franchise Leagues

Finn Allen's 34-ball century also ranks as the second-fastest century ever recorded in any T20 franchise league across the world. Only Chris Gayle's iconic 30-ball century for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2013 against Pune Warriors stands ahead of it.

Allen’s knock now sits just behind one of the greatest T20 innings of all time.

Highest Individual Score in MLC: 151 Runs

With his score of 151, Allen also became the highest individual scorer in the history of Major League Cricket. He surpassed the previous best of 137 not out, smashed by Nicholas Pooran while representing MI New York in 2023.

Highest Team Total in MLC: 269/5

Thanks to Finn Allen’s unforgettable innings, the San Francisco Unicorns posted a massive total of 269 runs for the loss of five wickets in their 20 overs. This is now the highest team total in MLC history. The previous editions of the tournament had never seen a team cross this mark.
