Haris Rauf after MLC 2025 opener (Source: @CricFollow56/X)
Haris Rauf breathed fire on Friday during the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 opener between San Francisco Unicorns and Washington Freedom at Oakland Coliseum, California. The 31-year-old took three wickets for 30 runs, and more significantly, of which two of his successes were Glenn Phillips and Glenn Maxwell.
In a match where Finn Allen made cricket seem like a walk in the park, Rauf excelled with the ball to make the game even more remarkable. After Allen’s heroic 51-ball 151, San Francisco posted 269/5 and then bowled out Washington for 146 in 13.1 overs, securing the biggest win in the history of the tournament (by 123 runs).
How Many Wickets Have Haris Rauf Claimed In MLC Over The Years?
As the third season of MLC is underway, Rauf, so far, has picked up 14 wickets in 15 matches, with an average of 35.14 and an expensive economy rate of 8.86. His strike rate of 23.78 also indicates he is not as successful in the tournament as he was expected to be.
However, given the start he has made in the new season, this could be the campaign where he might improve his numbers.
Hassan, le Roux Assist Rauf To Hunt Washington Down
Rauf was ably supported by Hassan Khan, who took 3/38 off his four overs. Liam Plunkett and Carmi le Roux were among the wickets, while Xavier Bartlett, who played for Punjab Kings in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, remained the only one who failed to bag one.
Rauf will next be in action on June 15 when San Francisco Unicorns will go up against Los Angeles Knight Riders in Match 3 of MLC 2025 at Oakland Coliseum, California.
