India's premier fast bowler Ishant Sharma has backed the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team to win the T20 World Cup in Australia.

The Men in Blue have played an aggressive brand of cricket, winning three out of four matches in the showpiece tournament.

In an exclusive interview with Betway, Sharma also pinpointed the "toss factor" that influenced the fixtures in the last edition of the T20 World Cup, which was played in UAE.

Here's what Ishant Sharma said

"To be honest, I think we’ve been unlucky most of the time. If you look at the last World Cup, the toss made such a big difference to results and India lost all of the first three tosses."

“Yes, the IPL is the biggest league in the world and India has loads of squad depth, but that doesn’t change anything if you lose the toss and have to bowl with a wet ball in dewy conditions. It was very difficult for teams bowling second to grip the ball in that tournament, so hopefully, India will get a bit more luck this time."

The tall pacer, who made his debut in 2007, feels bowlers have a better chance to perform in Australian conditions because the grounds are comparatively bigger in the Country Down Under.

Speaking on Bumrah's unavailability in the marquee event, Ishant said India has plenty of fast bowlers in their ranks, and somebody has to step up to fill the big shoes of India's ace pacer.

"For me, the bowlers are going to be crucial in this tournament. The grounds in Australia are really big, there’s going to be plenty of bounce and I think there are going to be opportunities for bowlers,

“That’s particularly the case for India because they are without Jasprit Bumrah. There is plenty of depth in India’s fast bowling and somebody is going to have to step up and win the World Cup for their team."
