Leicestershire appoints Lewis Hill captain ahead of the 2023 County season

In a significant turn of events, Lewis Hill has been appointed Leicestershire's captain ahead of the 2023 County season. The veteran keeper-batter succeeds Callum Parkinson, who doesn't consider himself in a position to commit to a contract extension. 

In his reaction, Hill admitted to feeling proud at his appointment as the captain of the side. The 32-year-old expressed his excitement for the new challenge and looked determined to help the team reach new heights. 

Here's what Hill stated

"It's a really proud moment for me to be selected as captain of Leicestershire. I've loved my two seasons skippering the 50-over side, so I'm really excited for the challenge ahead,

"I want to continue the good work Callum led last year. He's still going to be an important player in our team, and I know I can draw on his experience whenever required."

Hill has spent his entire county career with Leicestershire, scoring 2,906 runs and completing 100 catches and three stumpings in 62 first-class appearances.

He enjoyed his most productive red-ball season in 2021, scoring 944 runs at 44.95, including three centuries and five half-centuries. He followed it up with 503 runs in 2022.

The wicketkeeper-batter has also made 46 List A appearances, scoring 1,139 runs at 28.47, and a further 79 T20 appearances, scoring 971 runs.
