On Saturday against Gujarat Titans, the Kolkata Knight Riders management pulls off the mother of all extreme out-of-the-box thinking, pushing bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur to number three batting position and sending him inside the powerplay at Eden Gardens.
After getting a blistering start by Narayan Jagadeesan, the home team went against going with his usual No.3 batter Venkatesh Iyer or even Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh or Andre Russell, but went for Shardul, which raised confusion in the minds of various fans.

And amusingly, the punt taken by the KKR management didn't succeed as Shardul could only last for just a three-ball duck.
However, KKR's Rahmanullah Gurbaz is concerned about losing his partners from the other end, as the Afghanistan opener is going behind everyone coming in with the ball in hand.
Despite losing two wickets in the powerplay, KKR have managed to keep up their run rate, thanks to Gurbaz, who is marching towards registering his second IPL fifty.
At the time of writing, the Knight Riders are rolling at 75-2 after the end of the eighth overs, with Gurbaz and Venky Iyer at the crease.
