Jofra Archer Hits Back at Reports of Leaving IPL 2023 Midway for Surgery

Jofra Archer has hit back at reporters over posting a fake story involving his elbow injury. The speedster, currently in India for the ongoing IPL 2023 season, has so far turned up in just two games for the Mumbai Indians. He sustained an elbow injury thereafter, thus prompting the team management to bench him for the subsequent fixtures.

Earlier this week, a British media outlet claimed that Archer has travelled to Belgium midway through IPL 2023 to consult with a specialist. The claims were debunked by the speedster himself, who responded with a strongly-worded tweet on the microblogging site.

Jofra Archer took to Twitter on April 26 and criticised the media outlet for putting out a story without his consent. He wrote:

"Putting out an article without knowing the facts & without my consent is crazy. Whoever the reporter is shame on you, an already worrying and troubling time for a player and you exploit it for your personal gain, it’s people like you that are the problem."

Archer made his return to international cricket for England this year for the first time since early 2021. The injury-prone speedster recently toured Bangladesh for T20Is and ODIs before visiting India for the IPL 2023 season.

In the two matches he has played for Mumbai Indians this time around, the 28-year-old returned with just one wicket amidst expensive spells.

As per reports, he is slated to return to action in Mumbai Indians’ upcoming clash against Rajasthan Royals.
