Known for being a part of Fab 4, Joe Root has been phenomenal in world cricket considering his ability to bat for long hours in some of the world's toughest conditions. What makes him special is the determination to excel even when things look difficult for his side.

His solid technique has often led to his comparisons with Virat Kohli and many others who have done well in the past decade. Now, when he is all to don the Dubai Capitals' jersey in the inaugural season of the ILT20, there were some questions asked to him regarding his idol.

Root, who is known as the Test specialist declared that legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar has been his hero since childhood mainly because of his longevity and impact on the world stage. The right-hander further added that he was phenomenal as he carried the burden of Indian cricket for the longest time possible.

“I mean obviously there are some wonderful players currently playing but look at what Sachin has achieved, it’s just remarkable really, the longevity, the ability to be such a high-performing player at such a young age. He made his debut before I was born and played in my debut, and it just shows how and what he was for Indian Cricket for such a long period of time,

"I was a kid and I was admiring the way he played, how easy it looked, and not only has he contributed to Indian cricket but also to world cricket. So yeah, definitely a standout for me as a kid growing."

The English superstar will be seen on the opening night of the newest league when he enters the field for the Capitals against the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders at Dubai International Stadium on 13th January.
