In a remarkable turn of events, veteran Indian batter Virat Kohli has surpassed Sachin Tendulkar in a batting feat. 

The talismanic batter hammered his ninth ODI ton versus Sri Lanka, overtaking Tendulkar in the list of the most number of ODI centuries for India against the island nation.

Coming at number three, Kohli smashed Sri Lankan bowlers all around the park to accomplish his 45th ODI ton. His gorgeous knock helped India score briskly throughout their innings. 

The hosts got a tremendous start, courtesy of scintillating half centuries from Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. However, after their departure, Kohli weaved his magic, showcasing his skills for the umpteenth time. 

The former Indian captain stitched crucial stands with Rohit, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul to power India to a mammoth total of 373 in 50 overs.
