With five boundaries and four maximums thus far in the game, Ishan Kishan has bopped the Kolkata bowlers in the first seven overs of the game to notch his first half-century of the IPL 2023. In a chase of 186 runs, Kishan gave Mumbai Indians a blistering start and banged a 21-ball 51*.
For MI, both Kishan and Impact Player Rohit Sharma got off the mark sharply, sharing a 65-run opening stand, which came in just 4.5 overs, before Rohit was outclassed by Suyash Sharma at 20.
Nevertheless, MI's southpaw opener then got partnered with Suryakumar Yadav. After Rohit's dismissal, both the batters took the cautious approach, which seemed to be the better route after getting a handsome start to their innings.
At the time of writing, Mumbai are at 80-1 after 6.4 overs, with Ishan at 52* and Suryakumar at 7* off 7 balls, needing 103 runs at 8.08 RPO.
