Rohit Sharma's absence from the starting XI at the start of the KKR game created a lot of buzz as the five-time IPL Champion decided to hand over MI's captaincy to Suryakumar Yadav for the game 22 of IPL 2023. The reason for the same was the stomach bug but many of MI fans were still hopeful of Rohit coming back into the playing XI as an Impact Player in the second innings.

It is exactly what happened and Rohit Sharma walked out to open alongside Ishan Kishan to open the innings for MI in their bid to chase down 186 at their beloved Wankhede Stadium. He replaced Riley Meredith and would be looking to make a big impact after scoring a fifty in the last game.

At the time of writing, MI have raced to 35 off 3 overs with Rohit batting at 9 off 8 balls and Ishan Kishan smashing 26 off 10 balls. Earlier in the game, KKR managed to reach 185 on the back of a scintillating century by Venkatesh Iyer. He scored 104 off 51 balls and MI had two debutants in the bowling attack in the form of Arjun Tendulkar and Duan Jansen.
