Shahrukh Khan bludgeoned a 10-ball 23* against Lucknow Super Giants in match number 21 of the ongoing IPL 2023 season. The cricketer’s expressive cameo powered the Punjab Kings to a thrilling win in the final over of the game.
Khan demolished the Super Giants attack in the death overs, after Punjab Kings overseas star Sikandar Raza had anchored the team’s run-chase response.
After the match, both cricketers were involved in a cheerful interaction and the video was shared by the IPL on their official website. During their post-match celebratory conversation, Khan revealed why he was named after the Bollywood superstar by his parents.

Shahrukh Khan was roped in by the Punjab Kings ahead of the 2021 auction. The cricketer, currently into his third year with the franchise, has unfurled several sparkling cameos for his team, with most of them coming in the death overs of an innings.
After his side’s win over the LSG, he teamed up with ‘Player of the Match’ Sikandar Raza for a playful interaction, where he also explained why his parents named him after the Bollywood star.
Shahrukh Khan stated that he was the first boy to be born in his family, and all of his sisters were huge fans of the actor while growing up. He added that the film Baazigar was released a couple of years before his birth, and his mother wanted to name him after the Bollywood legend.
Punjab Kings will now go up against familiar nemesis RCB. The match will be hosted by their home base in Mohali on April 20.
