Mumbai Indians are well and truly back in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. After back-to-back losses, they have bounced back with two wins on a trot.

In a high-octane game against the Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians made a statement by defeating the former IPL champions in a relatively one-sided affair. Despite Venkatesh Iyers' stellar century, KKR failed to defend 185 and lost the match by 5-wickets.

Speaking to the official broadcasters after the match, stand-in captain of MI, Suryakumar Yadav was jubilant with the win, but rued his performance for not reaching the 50-run mark.

"Obviously we are happy. And that is what the chat was all about before the game. I would have loved to finish the game but happy with the way I batted. I was very pleased with how the team performed. We thought the wicket was a little dry in the afternoon, but the way the guys batted settled it down in the evening. In day games at the Wankhede, 160-170 is a good score and can be chasable too if one gets a good start.

That is what exactly Kishan did. He got us off to a great start. I took my time with the first five-seven balls, thinking that if I could get my eye in, I could score. I walked onto bat very confident, relaxed and tension free. We know what kind of firepower we have lower down the order if the top order gives us a good start. (Piyush Chawla) It was a legendary spell. He raised his hand when were under pressure. He always asks for the bowling whenever the pressure is there."

Chasing 186, MI were off to a flying start, courtesy Ishan Kishan, who reached his fifty in 21-balls. SKY came back to form with a blazing 25-ball 43 and Tim David provides the finishing touches for a famous MI win.
