Mohammed Siraj continued his rise in white-ball cricket with yet another scintillating bowling performance against the Punjab Kings. Siraj's breath-taking spell helped him to surpass Mark Wood to become the new holder of the Purple Cap (most wickets in IPL 2023).

Currently, Siraj has 12 wickets to his name, and has the second best average amongst all the bowlers (13.41), and the best economy (6.70).

Defending 175 against a strong Punjab Kings (PBKS) side, RCB needed something special from Siraj and he produced just that. The Indian speedster was at his imperial best, picking up 4 for 21 and helped his side win the game by 24 runs.

The second position on the Purple Cap list is occupied by Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) Mark Wood. The England seamer already has a 5-wicket haul in the tournament and has picked up 11 wickets in just 4 matches.

The third bowler on the list is Yuzvendra Chahal. The wily leg-spinners from Rajasthan Royals has 11 wickets in 6 matches, but he blew hot and cold in the last match against LSG.

Interestingly, RCB have the both the Purple Cap Holder (Siraj) and the Orange Cap Holder (du Plessis) as well.

With the win over PBKS, the du Plessis' led RCB have climbed to the 5th position in the table.
