A pickup throw from Wanindu Hasaranga got the better of Punjab Kings' Sam Curran on the last over of the 10th over, lending Royal Challengers Bangalore their fifth wicket of the match while defending 175 runs at Mohali on Thursday.

Needing 99 runs off 61 deliveries, Curran worked the ball in the offside off Vijaykumar Vyshak. The southpaw set off a sharp run, but Hasaranga, at backward point, fired a bullet throw, which saw Curran getting run out by a country mile at the non-striker's end.

Earlier in the innings, Mohammed Siraj also produced a spellbinding run-out, which resulted in Harpreet Singh Bhatia’s wicket.

In a chase of 175 runs on a double-faced wicket, no Punjab Kings' batter found the right rhythm, letting Royal Challengers Bangalore get their tails up.

Apart from Prabhsimran Singh’s 46, none of the top-order batters could help Punjab’s cause in Mohali. However, a blistering knock from Jitesh Sharma down the order kept PBKS in the chase, even after losing seven wickets at 106 in the 13th over.

Earlier in the game, the Lankan wizard snapped two crucial wickets in his spell of 2 for 39 in the full quota of four overs. However, the mainstay of RCB’s bowling was Mohammed Siraj who ended the day with 4/21.
