England's Jorfa Archer has been marred by injuries that have kept the pacer out of action for a long time. Archer, who is currently participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 for Mumbai Indians (MI), played just one match before being out of action due to "a little niggle".
After missing four encounters, Archer could possibly make a return to the field against Punjab Kings on Saturday in Wankhede. Speaking ahead of the match to ESPNcricinfo, the 28-year-old talked about feeling good, and how that will eventually make him bowl fast and better.
MI signed Archer for INR 8 crore in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, despite the bowler's unavailability for the whole season.
Here's what Archer said
"There are going to be moments where it feels a lot more serious than it actually is. I don't know which game will be the next game, but I'm just trying to put myself in the best position possible [to play].
To be honest, I still want to bowl fast and stuff - but when you feel good, you bowl good. I just want to focus on feeling good at the minute."
Ahead of IPL 2023, the Barbados-born played in the SA20 League for MI's sister franchise MI Cape Town. In his only game this season, the World Cup winner got hammered for runs, against RCB.
"I probably didn't have the debut that I wanted, but I do have the opportunity to debut at home. Hopefully, I can make it a proper one this time."
Rohit Sharma-led XI, having lost their first two games, have managed to win three matches in a row and are now placed sixth in the points table.
