Delhi Capitals' star Mitchell Marsh was struck out in December amid undergoing surgery on a longstanding ankle injury following which he had to step out of the Perth Scorchers' Big Bash campaign. Since then, Marsh has focused on his health and continued on his road to recovery.
Earlier, there were speculations that Marsh would be fit to return to the recently concluded Border Gavaskar Trophy. However, Smith-led Australia had to continue without him.
Australia have begun their first ODI against India; a duel that goes decades ago and a battle between the table toppers.
In a pre-match interview with BCCI, Mitchell talked about how he feels about returning to India and playing after so long:
"I am feeling good. I found my confidence and form back playing in domestic competitions in Perth. I am playing just as a batter. Maybe a couple of weeks away from bowling. I am doing well with my ankle rehabilitation. Hopefully, I get fit to bowl some weeks afterwards somewhere in the middle of IPL."
This is a matchup between World No.1 and No.2 sides and is undeniable expected to be a thrilling and nail biting contest to witness.
Meanwhile, India pushed Australia on the back foot in the first ODI, dismissing them for a paltry 188 in 35.4 overs. However, Marsh emerged as one of the rare shining lights for Australia in the forgettable game, as he smashed a breathtaking 81-run knock with ten fours and five sixes.
