Riding on bowlers' collective brilliance, hosts India have restricted Australia to a meagre 188-run total in the first ODI in Mumbai. Considering the kind of batting lineup they have, India will fancy their chances to chase the score when they come out to bat. 


Mitchell Marsh Slams A Fiery Fifty Before Shami Brings Australia Down On Their Knees

After being put into bat first, Australia got off to a disastrous start, as Mohammed Siraj cleaned up Travis Head in the second over. However, the veterans, Mitchell Marsh and Steve Smith steadied the ship, stitching a crucial 72-run stand for the second wicket.

While Smith contributed 22 runs before being dismissed by his counterpart Hardik Pandya, Marsh stunned the hosts with a counterattacking fifty, glittered with ten glorious fours and five humongous sixes. 

However, the game took a u-turn as soon as Ravindra Jadeja got rid of Marsh, who thoroughly enthralled the spectators with his aggressive 65-ball 81. Soon after, Marnus Labuschagne fell prey to Kuldeep Yadav for 15, thanks to a blinder from Jadeja at the backward point. 

But Mohammed Shami's sensational spell of seam bowling marked the highlight of the day. Shami, who was brought back by Pandya after Labuschagne's dismissal, struck thrice in the successive overs of his new spell. 

After making Josh Inglis edge one onto the stumps, the experienced seamer shattered Cameron Green's off-stump through a peach in the 30th over. If that was not enough, the ace speedster removed Marcus Stoinis to shell-shock the visitors. 

Glenn Maxwell also had a poor outing with the bat, being dismissed for eight. After that, it took a little time for Mohammed Siraj to clean up the Australian tail, restricting them to 188 in 35.4 overs.
