On Wednesday, WPL franchise Gujarat Giants won their second match of the season, beating an in-form Delhi Capitals by 11 runs in a close encounter.

The star for the Giants was Australia's Ashleigh Gardner, who scored an unbeaten 51* and claimed two wickets, winning the player of the match award for her brilliant all-round performance.

At the post-match presentation, Gardner, the joint second-most expensive player in WPL, stated that she was searching for a clinical game like this after being inconsistent in most parts of the showpiece event.

Here's what Gardner said

"It's the game I was searching for. I felt I'd been inconsistent so far in the tournament. To put my team in a winning position with the bat, Laura and I set the platform for our team to leverage off. Then we knew we had to bowl well. We did that. It's the first time we bowled out a team. So it was a clinical performance which was pleasing."

Speaking about her team, Gardner revealed that the team is focused on fine-tuning their middle-overs batting and not losing wickets in clusters, which they have often been guilty of.

She further stated that the spin coming into play this late in the tournament is beneficial for her side, as they have a lethal spin attack.

With this win, GG are now sitting fourth in the WPL 2023 standings with 4 points, and will next meet Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday.
