On Friday, New Zealand demolished India by seven wickets in the first ODI of the three-match series in Auckland.

Despite the loss, Washington Sundar's breathtaking cameo emerged as one of the biggest positives for India in the match. Coming at number 7, Sundar hammered 37 runs off just 16 balls, ensuring a fitting finish for the visitors.

After India's innings concluded, former opener WV Raman took to his Twitter handle to highlight Sundar's batting attributes.

Raman, who has represented India in 38 international matches, even reckoned that Sundar's state team Tamil Nadu as well as the Indian team, should utilise Sundar more with the bat from now onwards.

Here's what Raman tweeted

"I may get trolled, nonetheless I am going to say what needs to be. All the sides that Washington Sundar plays for should make better use of his batting ability.. Tamil Nadu Cricket Association must set the ball rolling."

Notably, Sundar has amazed everyone with his incredible batting prowess from time to time. He has particularly been successful in first-class cricket, amassing 850 runs in 19 matches at a healthy average of 34.

Considering Ravindra Jadeja's declining fitness, we can say that it will take a little time for Sundar to become India's first-choice batting all-rounder across formats.
