After a solid batting performance, India's bowling attack surrendered to Tom Latham and skipper Kane Williamson who joined hands to smash a record 221-run partnership while chasing 307. While the loss was a difficult one, captain Shikhar Dhawan was confident of his side learning from the game.

The left-hander said he was content with the batting performance but it was their bowling that let them down. The opener was also cautious of the fielding effort which saw them leaking a few runs during the game.

Further, he praised the Man of the match Latham for his incredible 145 runs knock off just 104 deliveries which propelled his side to victory. His view was that the game changed in the 40th over when four boundaries were smashed.

"We were pleased with the total we put on the board. During the first 15 overs, the ball was seaming. This ground is a little different from others. Latham attacked after we bowled a lot on a short length. We misfielded a few balls. But, as I previously stated, we were quite short to Latham, and that is where he took the game away. In the 40th over, he hit four boundaries, and the game changed. There will undoubtedly be a lot of learning for the boys."

India will next face New Zealand on 27th November in Hamilton in a bid to make a comeback in the series.
