Western Australia's Teague Wyllie created Australian history when he scored his maiden Sheffield Shield century aged 18, thus drawing level with Ricky Ponting's record set during the 1992-93 season.

Wyllie scored 104 against New South Wales in their season opener in Perth, where his side ended up winning by eight wickets despite being six down for 100 in their first innings.

The 18-year-old impressed former players during Australia's Under-19 ICC World Cup 2022 campaign, scoring 278 runs at an average of 69.50 in six games.

Wyllie made his WA First-Class debut in March and has since appeared in three matches, scoring 173 runs.

According to ESPNcricinfo, Wyllie has modelled his technique on India's current coach and former batting legend Rahul Dravid and expressed a desire to play Test cricket.

"I idolised Rahul Dravid growing up. He values his wicket more than anyone. Growing up I modelled my game on him a bit when it comes to valuing his wicket and batting for long periods. Kane Williamson is another who I try to learn a lot from."

Dravid widely regarded as the 'The Wall' of Indian cricket, played 164 Tests and amassed 13,288 runs with 36 centuries and 63 fifties.

The 49-year-old is known for batting for long sessions and is revered for having an impenetrable technique.
