Rohit Sharma's credentials as a white-ball legend are unarguable. However, a late-bloomer in Tests, Sharma has stamped his authority time and again; as seen in the Nagpur match last week against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Former Australian international Mark Waugh, who is in India for a commentary stint, hailed the current India all-format skipper for his performance in the first Test, which saw every other batter struggle on a spin-friendly wicket.

Waugh went on to add that Sharma has transformed himself from an 'underachiever of sorts' to a match-winner in the longest format as well.

Here's what Waugh said

"He (Rohit) has had an interesting Test career, hasn't he? In the early bit of his career, he was an underachiever of sorts. He needed to work on his discipline. But, he has always had a touch of class, he has always had time like all the great players. He has a very simple technique. He has always been a match-winner in white-ball cricket, but he is a match-winner in Test cricket now,"

The 1999 World Cup winner with Australia, further praised Sharma's discipline, range of shorts, and mental game.

With India leading 1-0, Sharma will look to gain an unassailable lead in Delhi, where both teams meet for the second Test on Friday.
