After India's exit from the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in the semi-finals at the hands of eventual-winners England, the future of 20-overs captain Rohit Sharma is being debated. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the past year has identified all-rounder Hardik Pandya as one of the contenders for the post going ahead, having won the three-match T20I series in New Zealand recently.
Pandya's own form, coupled with his title-winning run with Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has helped him jump over other candidates like Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah, and KL Rahul.
England all-rounder Moeen Ali has said that Pandya should be India's next captain. Ali, currently playing in the Abu Dhabi T10 League for Morrisville Samp Army, spoke in detail about Indian cricket with ANI.

Ali, who has troubled Virat Kohli with his off-spin bowling, also talked about the former India captain's return to form.
“Virat is back in form this is a good sign, every player goes through this stage once in lifetime but only some could come out from it and Virat did it,
The two-time World Cup winner also talked about India lacking runs and not playing a leg-spinner as one the crucial reason behind their humiliating loss against England on that fateful semi-finals evening.
