Ahead of the first One-Day International (ODI) on Sunday, England Women have appointed wicketkeeper-batter Amy Jones as vice-captain for their West Indies tour consisting of three ODIs and five T20Is.

Jones replaces Nat Sciver, who gave up the role to make a smooth return to international cricket.

Regular skipper Heather Knight is back at the helm of affairs for England after recovering from her hip surgery. Sciver, however, opted to take a break from cricket ahead of England's ODI and T20Is series against India due to mental well-being.

Jones captained England in the home series against India, where both Knight and Sciver were unavailable. England Women's Director of Cricket Jonathan Finch maintained that Sciver could be back in her vice-captain role in the future.

Here's what Finch said

"If Nat is keen to go back into a leadership position after West Indies, we will ensure that we can make that happen. But it has to be right for her,

We back her 100 per cent in doing that; she's very well respected in the group, but we don't rush people coming back in, and we're not going to take things off the table because that would be disrespectful to her. But that is a possibility, for sure."

This will be Jon Lewis' first assignment as England Women's head coach since taking over from Lisa Keightley.
