On Tuesday, New Zealand announced their ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming tour of India. While the visitors named a star-studded side for the T20Is, several fresh faces were added to the BlackCaps' ODI squad.

Considering we have the T20 World Cup coming up next year, New Zealand decided to send their full-strength team for the T20I series against India, while announcing a second-string side, comprising several less-known players, for the ODIs.

As the BlackCaps prepare for the India tour, here are all details on those relatively less-known cricketers in their ODI team.

Who is Adi Ashok?

Adithya Ashok is an India-origin New Zealand cricketer. He was born on September 5, 2002, in Tamil Nadu. Ashok is a leg-spinner, known for his guile and wily variations.

Given that Ish Sodhi is at the fag end of his career, New Zealand are steadily grooming Adi Ashok as his potential replacement in white-ball cricket. Overall, he has played three white-ball matches, including two ODIs and a T20I, for the BlackCaps, scalping two wickets combined.

Who is Kristian Clarke?

Kristian Clarke is a right-arm fast bowler who represents Northern Districts in the domestic circuit. He hasn't played a single international match so far; however, chances are high that he might get an ODI debut cap in the upcoming series against India.

Kristian Clarke has had an impactful List-A career, scalping 52 wickets in just 34 matches. Interestingly, he also has a List-A hundred to his name, amassing 373 runs across 23 innings at an average of 21.94. This suggests that he could be a handy lower-order batter and might play a key role for New Zealand against the Indians.

Who is Josh Clarkson?

Josh Clarkson is a fine all-round prospect from New Zealand. Standing 6'3", Clarkson is tall enough to cause trouble for the batters on slightly seam-friendly decks. He can smash a long ball as a finisher, besides chipping in with a few overs of medium pace.

Clarkson has played 11 international matches with modest success, scoring 92 runs across both formats. However, he has an impressive List-A record, amassing 2214 runs at a strike rate of 95.38 and scalping 66 wickets in 98 matches.

Who is Jayden Lennox?

Jayden Lennox is a wily left-arm spinner who is likely to make his debut for New Zealand in the India ODIs. The 31-year-old has been effective in his brief List-A career, scalping 69 wickets in just 54 matches.

More importantly, he has registered an economy rate of 4.86, signifying his ability to control the flow of runs. Given that New Zealand have rested Mitchell Santner from their ODI squad, Jayden Lennox might lead their spin attack in the three-match series.
