Former SRH Coach Advises Delhi Capitals To Open With 'This' Player Instead Of Prithvi Shaw

Today, Delhi Capitals will lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders in the 28th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League season. The Capitals have been miserable in the tournament, incurring successive defeats in their first five fixtures. Therefore, the face-off against KKR holds paramount importance for them, as they will be desperate to register their first win of the season.

Meanwhile, the abysmal form of Prithvi Shaw has emerged as a massive headache for the Capitals. Shaw, who once used to be their trump card in the power play, has managed only 34 runs in five outings at a horrendous average of 6.80.

So, considering his poor form, former Australian cricketer Tom Moody has urged the Capitals to drop Shaw from the playing XI, promoting swashbuckling all-rounder Mitchell Marsh to open alongside David Warner.

As quoted by India Today, Moody said:

"You've got to make a tough call on certain players that aren't showing any light at the end of the tunnel. And on the evidence of what we've seen so far with Prithvi Shaw, it may well be that IPL 2023 may not be his year where he has the impact that we all hoped that he was going to have,

"He's (Marsh) done that before recently and he's done it successfully. He's naturally an enforcer, so that would complement [David] Warner and it would help him as well."

Notbaly, Marsh has also let the Capitals down with his batting this season, managing only four runs in three appearances. So, considering the mediocre batting form of both Shaw and Marsh, it will be interesting to see who the Capitals go with in their crucial clash against KKR.
