In an interesting move, Lucknow Super Giants bagged dynamic West Indies batter Nicholas Pooran for a whopping INR 16 Crores in the recently held IPL mini-auction

They needed a left-handed middle order batter to balance their squad and therefore, Pooran was a decent buy from their perspective.

Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra reckons that Pooran, being their most expensive purchase, holds the key to their success in the IPL 2023.

Chopra, who represented KKR in the IPL 2008, opined that how LSG uses Stoinis and Pooran will determine their fate in the campaign.

Here's what Chopra stated

"Nicholas Pooran is their biggest purchase. They broke the entire bank on Nicholas Pooran. Their fortunes will solely depend on how they use Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis. They haven't been able to use Marcus Stoinis well thus far. We will have to see how Nicholas Pooran plays because he might just hold the key to everything."

Despite blowing hot and cold in the ODIs, Pooran has enjoyed decent  success in T20Is this year, amassing 582 runs at an average of 29.10 and a strike rate of 130.49.

The swashbuckling southpaw stepped down from captaincy after West Indies' shocking group-stage exit from the T20 World Cup.
