Despite retiring back in 2019, MS Dhoni continues to attract eyeballs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) season after season, and this 2023 edition is no different. Leading the fan-favourite Chennai Super Kings, Dhoni's brilliant acumen as skipper, guided the franchise to their first win in the ongoing IPL last evening.

In a high-scoring encounter at Chepauk, CSK prevailed over the Lucknow Super Giants by 12 runs, who were coming in from a convincing victory in their opening match, unlike the hosts, who tasted defeat against Gujarat Titans.

Former CSK teammates and legends Suresh Raina and Robin Uthappa have urged the young players in the squad to learn commitment, dedication, and discipline from the former India captain.

CSK have a young bowling pace attack in Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Tushar Deshpande, Simarjeet Singh and Akash Singh.

Dhoni, 41, struck two consecutive sixes off pacer Mark Wood in the last over, which ultimately was the difference between the sides.

Speaking on Jio Cinema, both Raina and Uthappa went on to praise Dhoni's six off Wood.

Here's what Raina said

"Every youngster in the IPL must learn, be it in the dressing room or opponent team. I think the commitment, dedication, discipline and to perform for the team, it needs someone who has a big heart,

Had Mahi bhai not hit those two sixes, it would have been difficult,"

Here's what Uthappa said

"See, it is not easy to bring in that rhythm especially when you are facing someone (Mark Wood) whom the world considers as one of the fastest bowlers and he (Dhoni) is 41. It is not easy to hit a six that too on one leg,"

Dhoni's call to bring on Moeen Ali within the powerplay brought instant results as the England all-rounder snapped Kyle Mayers' wicket. Ali's other victims were KL Rahul, Krunal Pandya, and Marcus Stoinis.

CSK travel to Wankhede to take on Mumbai Indians on Saturday.
