Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni needed just 8 runs to achieve the 5,000 run-mark in Indian Premier League (IPL) and he achieved it in the game against Lucknow Super Giants.

An IPL legend, MS Dhoni has been a stalwart for CSK ever-since the first season and has achieved the remarkabke feat of crosing the 5,000 run barrier. He becomes the fifth Indian batter after Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma to get to the prestigious landmark.

Ahead of IPL 2O23, MSD needed 22 runs to cross this figure, but he could only manage 14 runs. However, in front of his home fans at the Chepauk, Dhoni came in as a finisher and smacked two back-to-back sixes and finished things off in style once again.

Against LSG, he came in at number 8 and gave a glimpse of vintage Dhoni as he smashed the fiery Mark Wood for two maximums. He was eventually dismissed on the third ball, but CSK managed to put up a healthy 217 on the board.
