Babar Azam has been facing criticism for his captaincy skills for a while now, especially after Pakistan lost a Test series against England and an ODI series against New Zealand under his captaincy.

There have been whispers that the Pakistan Cricket Board is mulling over relieving Babar Azam of his duties as the red-ball captain and giving it to Sarfaraz Ahmed, who recently made a comeback to Test cricket.

Amidst the scathing criticism, Iftikhar Ahmed, the hard hitting batter, has voiced his support for Babar Azam, arguing that criticising the captain is a grave offence.

"Everyone knows that there is no other player like Babar in the world."

"People criticising Babar should first see whether they are at a level where they can comment on him. First, reach his level and become a cricketer like him, and then criticise Babar."

In addition to his national team duties, Babar Azam also leads Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League. He led Karachi Kings in the last season, where the team's campaign ended in a disastrous way, with only one win in 10 matches and a bottom-place finish on the points table.

As for Peshawar Zalmi, it has been a topsy turvy season for them, having won three matches while losing as many. They are currently placed fifth in the league standings with six points in their account.
